Episode 198: (TW) when it all feels a little too heavy
hi friend!
welcome back! we've been chatting a lot about mental health lately & today is no different. please note that today we're chatting about depression; things feeling overwhelming; medication & when to know when to ask for help. i am not a mental health professional or a doctor so please be mindful of the fact that i am simply sharing my experience(s) & what works for me. please always, always do what is best for you and remember that it is okay to ask for help.
yesterday i had a thought as i was texting with my therapist so i told her: "i'm in a depressive state." it was a heavy thing to say but i'm proud of myself for acknowledging where i am right now.
a past version of me never would have admitted that. a past version of me would have just kept going hoping that one day i would feel normal again.
instead, this version of me is taking note on how i'm feeling & i'm starting to realize that given my normal anxious baseline, it's time to truly truly explore being back on anxiety medication.
each of our stories is different, but there is one fundamental truth: we are not alone. no matter how heavy things may feel; no matter how chaotic the world may become (hopefully not much more...i beg), you & me, we are in this together.
